Street Festival "Shu Ha' Carmel in Berlin"

Last Sunday as part of the Jewish Culture days there was a street festival in front of the Community Center in the Fasanenstrasse in Berlin. Although the name refers to the famous market in Tel-Aviv, it has nothing to do  with the original, but it is a nice excuse to eat some Jewish and middle eastern dishes.

Letzte Sonntag gab es einen Straßenfest vor die Jüdische Gemeindezentrum in Fasanenstrasse in Berlin. Der Strassenfest sieht zwar gar nicht wie der berühmter Markt in Tel-Aviv aus , aber es war eine gute Gelegenheit Köstlichkeiten aus der Jüdische Küche und Orient zu essen.


I went with my school friend Andres. (From the German School in Guayaquil) He lives now in Hamburg and was visiting Berlin for the weekend.

Ich war dort mit meine Schulkamerad Andres, (Aus der Deutsche Schule in Guayaquil, Ecuador) Er wohnt jetzt in Hamburg und war in Berlin zu Besucht.

Jüdische Kulturtage in Berlin

It is August again and the Jewish Culture days just started yesterday. This is my third time reporting the event with my drawings. The opening concert was stunning with a combination of beautiful voices and instruments that while  showing the diversity in Jewish culture, put you on the right mood for was is coming in the next days. Es ist August wieder und die Jüdische Kulturtage sind seit gestern wieder da. Das ist das drittes Mal, dass ich diese Veranstaltung zeichne. Das Eröffnungskonzert war wunderbar mit eine Kombination aus Stimmen und Instrumenten. Sie zeigten die Diversität der jüdische Kultur. Es war die richtige Stimmung um das Publikum für das buntes Programm der nächsten Tagen zu vorbereiten.

There were many beautiful scenes.

Es gab sehr schöne Szenen.

I drew with a sepia Pitt Pen and I added a wash of watercolor later.

Ich habe mit einem Sepia Stift (Faber-Castell Pitt Pen) und später habe ich ein paar Lavierungen zugefügt.

Dan Savage in Shakespeare & Sons, Berlin

Dan Savage was yesterday at the English Bookstore Shakespeare & Sons, He talked about his new book "American Savage". I got opportunity to draw him while he was been interviewed.

Dan Savage war gestern in der Buchladen Shakespeare & Sons. He erzählte über sein neues Buch. Ich habe ihn gezeichnet, als er ein paar Fragen antworte.

The room was very crowded. People were standing quiet to hear him talk.

Das Zimmer war sehr voll. Die Leute standen still in dem Vorraum um etwas zu hören.

Sketcher pro app

I was so happy to find the Sketcher app.  I knew this apps when it was just a part of the Harmony project in internet. (you can still try it there if you don't have a tablet)  I liked immediately when I first try it on the internet and though it would be cool to use it on the streets.

I got the Sketcher pro (you have to paid but it is so little and the guy had offered his tools for so long for free in internet, that I think it is worth it) there is a Sketcher lite free version also.

Ich war sehr glücklich, als ich die Sketcher app gefunden habe. Ich kannte dieses Programm als es nur ein Projekt (Harmony project)  in Internet war. (Man kann immer noch dort probieren, auch ohne Tablet) Ich mag es sofort, als ich es in mein Pc probiert habe und dachte, dass es wäre Cool, damit in den Strassen zu zeichnen.

Ich habe Sketcher pro (man muss eine Kleinigkeit zahlen, aber der Kerl bietet es so lange umsonst im Internet, dass es mir Wert ist.) Es gibt auch eine gratis Version: Sketcher lite free version

The main advantage of this app is that allows to do sketches so quickly, because when you draw close to a previous line, some effects start to appear between them. That makes the drawing difficult to control if you draw small things. However It copes very well with my minimalist way of drawing.
These sketches were done in less than 10 minutes.

Der Hauptvorteil dieses App ist das es ermöglich dich sehr schnell zu zeichnen, weil es ein Effect entsteht, wenn man nah an eine vorherige gezeichnete Linie drangeht. Es ist deshalb schwer zu kontrollieren, wenn man nur kleine Sachen zeichnet. Aber es passt zu meine minimalistische Art zu zeichnen. Diese Skizzen wurden in weniger als 10 min gemacht.

Cafe Gipfeltreffen

Today there was not cake in Gipfeltreffen. I wanted so badly one. The cakes there are usually very tasty. Next time. I just draw the place.

I am using Sketchbook pro in my Samsung note 8.  I like the size. It is good enough to draw and small enough to hold it comfortable in my hand.

Heute gab es kein Kuchen im Cafe Gipfeltreffen. Ich hatte so eine Lust. Die Kuchen dort sind sehr gut. Nächste Mal. Diesmal habe ich nur das Cafe gezeichnet.

Ich benutze Sketchbook pro in meinem Samsung Note 8. Ich mag die Gosse  Es ist groß genu , um zu zeichnen, aber klein genug, dass ich es bequem halten kann.

Sketching gear review - Zeichnen Zubehör Bericht

As Always after a USk Symposium or big sketchers meeting I have to make a little list of sketching gear that I like. This year the best ones are self made.

Wie immer nach einem USk Symposium mache ich ein Bericht über die besten Zeichnen Zubhör , di ich dort sehe. Dieses Jahre die Besten sind selbstgebastelt.

The new sketchbook trend this year were the accordion watercolor sketchbooks from Sennelier and Moleskine, that we got as freebies. I am waiting for a good opportunity to try them.

But a fantastic discover was when I saw also that Miguel Herranz got one new Strathmore grey color sketchbook. Since Strathmore was a big USk Symposium sponsor I was expecting to get one of this sketchbooks as a freebie to be able to try it. Now I have to wait until I can found where I can buy them in Berlin. Check Miguel Herranz drawing to see what wonderful things you can do with it. Well Miguel does always wonderful things, I also learnt this year that he is a great cook, too.

Das neue Skizzenbuch Trend dieses Jahr sind Leporellos für Wasserfarben oder Mix-Media. Sennelier und Moleskine hatten uns einige geschenkt. Ich muss sie noch testen.

A tolle Entdeckung war Miguel Herranz neue Strathmore graue Skizzenbuch. Strathmore war ein wichtiger Sponsor des Symposium. Ich hatte gehofft eine in unsere Geschenk Tasche zu finden. Leider es war keine, jetzt muss ich finden wo ich sie finden kann. Besucht mal Miguel Herranz Zeichnungen, um zu sehen was für schöne Sachen, damit zeichnen kann. Ok, Miguel zeichnet immer gut, aber dieses Jahr habe ich entdeckt, dass er ein sehr guter Koch ist.

Previous Barcelona I participated in a long discussion in Facebook about sketching chairs. I ended buying a pocket chair for 6 euros in Amazon but it didn't arrive on time. However the best one I saw in Barcelona and belonged to Gerard Michel. He built it himself and if you notice in the picture  it have the same size of his sketchbook.

Bevor meiner Reise nach Barcelona habe ich in eine sehr interessante Diskussion in Facebook über Zeichen Stühle gehabt. Ich hatte am Ende einen Taschen Stuhl (wirklich es pass in meiner Tasche!) für 6 Euro in Amazon gekauft, aber er ist leider nicht rechtzeitig angekommen. Aber der beste Stuhl gehörte Gerard Michel. Er hat ihn aus Holz selber gebaut und ungeklappt hat die gleiche grosse wie sein Skizzenbuch.

Enno from Berlin brought the nicest pen case. A friend made it for him as a present.

Enno aus Berlin hatte ein sehr schönes Stift Tasche. Jemand hatte sie für ihm genäht.

As always the creative Isabell Seidel brought some fantastic surprises. Besides her beautiful drawings I know her for the sketchbooks she make, and practical pen cases, but this year she had a drawing board with integrated paper folder. She said you can buy the buttons in any hardware store and glue it to the board.

Wie immer Isabell Seidel hatte eine schöne Ueberraschung. Dieses Jahr hatte sie eine selbstgebastelte Zeichenbrett mit integrierter Papier Mappe. Sie hatte die Knoepfe in eine ganz normale Baumarkt gefunden und später zu dem Brett geklebt.

Urban Sketching Symposium Barcelona

Last week I was in Barcelona as an instructor for the 4th Urban Sketchers Symposium

Letzte Woche war ich  in Barcelona als Workshop Lehrer bei die IV Urban Sketcher Symposium.

It was a great experience meeting again all sketchers friends around the world and making new ones.

Es war eine tolle Erfahrung wieder alle Zeichner-Freunde aus der ganze Welt zu treffen und Neue kennen zulernen.
