Packing my bags

Well, time flies. It is almost July and I will be leaving St. John's soon. I had painted a lot during this time and I have to confess that I enjoy so much exploring this city. I am also very grateful to the people of Newfoundland that follow my blog. I got this wonderful comment the other day from Jenny from St. John's. Check here. It really touched me. Because it is not only about me painting, but it is also that I want to share what I do with others, specially with the people of the place where I am. Comments and feedback is such a precious thing. It is the only way to get to know and understand a community.

By the way, I have many painting to sell before I leave, my bags are full and I don't want to carry an extra weight. Contact me for that. You can also can buy prints from my work in fineartamerica.com

Study of a cat

The cat's name is Toma and as every character in St. John's he has a story. Toma used to live on the streets and was know as the terror of the neighborhood. When Natalie took him to her home the cat was in a very bad condition. However a good home, food and affection had transformed this cat in a very beautiful animal.

A sailboat from Denmark in St. John's

Joy told me the other day that she meet some people from Denmark in Rocket Cafe. They were here in St. John's with a small sailboat. They were waiting a few days in the city until the wind change and they could sail and cross the atlantic back to Copenhagen. Last Wednesday the boat was still there.

Tuesday Night in Georgetown bar

I already wrote about the music. People in St. John's are crazy about music; people love to gather and play together. This sketch is in Georgetown Bar.

St John's watercolor

A view from the Rooms, third floor. It was a rainy day and the fog was covering the Harbor. It is good to have a warm place where you can draw in rainy days. People tend not to see around when it rains. The afternoon light filters through the fog and the green shines in a surreal glow.

Group of 77

St. John's is full of art, music and creativity. There is an artist group called 77 that meets twice a week to paint with a model. Some times naked some times dressed. It is open to everybody that wants to draw. (it just cost 5 dollars to participate. The money is to pay the model. First time is free) The group was founded in 1977 and the first meetings where in a house with the number 77. Last Thursday the model didn't come so we took turns to pose. The other artist asked me to hold my sketchbook while modeling. I couldn't move my head or my position so this is what I managed to draw from my restricted view.
